My intention for all of the 1 Month Programs I will be conducting in future is to offer an individual and filtered teacher training for those wanting to gain my approval to teach the Moon Sequence, the Lion Sequence and beyond. As I thoroughly enjoy teaching these sequences, I am happy to invite students into teacher training. However, if you are teaching Chandra Krama or any of my sequences without my approval you will be asked to cease doing so during this training process. Students applying for teacher training need to develop the following:
- Learning the Moon Sequence. Attend at least two of my monthly programs, and integrate Chandra Krama into your weekly practice. During the period between courses where you are self-practicing the Moon Sequence you should be advising me of your progress via email from time to time. You must not teach the sequence during this time.
- A foundation in traditional Ashtanga Yoga practice. Demonstrate a solid working practice of the Primary Sequence and some of the Intermediate Sequence. Some exceptions will be made for students who no longer practice Ashtanga Yoga and can demonstrate a committed alternative practice.
- You should have at least 3 years of Yoga teaching experience.
- Commit to a series of 4 private lessons during the final training phase of each monthly program to follow up on the “teaching” aspect of the sequence.
Each of the sequences after Chandra Krama (Simha, Baddha etc) will be taught in the same manner for teacher training purposes. A nominal fee will be paid to me upon gaining my approval to teach. Only students listed on my website on the Vinyasa Krama page presently have my blessing to teach.
Having said all that, I offer these sequences with humour and joy, and hope that all students practice them with this intention. The teacher training process is not arduous, and only depends on your ability to commit to the practice and commit to being a little patient. Anyone wishing to attend the course should contact me directly and let me know your previous practice/teaching experience. Students of any experience level are welcome. It is not necessary to have a high level of practice, though some understanding of the Primary sequence/self practice is recommended.
